read moreAnnouncing that its new CENTREPIECE venue will open in September, Melbourne and Olympic Parks is looking to stage an increasing number of events during 2021.
Having staged 23 events across 60 event days and greeted more than 250,000 guests to the precinct in the first three months of the year, the announcement of the opening of CENTREPIECE was accompanied by the confirmation that it will host the Associations Forum 2021 National Conference on 6th and 7th September.
General Manager of the Associations Forum, Fatima Sunderji, said that the decision to partner with CENTREPIECE will be important in the sector reconnecting face-to-face, commenting “the Associations Forum’s mission is bringing associations together to share knowledge and best practice within the industry, through our range of member services and educational events.
“We are so honoured to be the first National Conference to make its mark on this state-of-the-art venue and can’t wait for our associations, charities and not-for-profit organisations to experience this firsthand.”
With flexibility for both small and large scale events, the new venue - spanning across three storeys - has capabilities to host intimate dinners, weddings, cocktail parties, conferences, galas or functions, and more.
It is also easily accessible by rail, road, path and river, while enjoying the scenic surroundings of Melbourne and the neighbouring Yarra River.
Melbourne and Olympic Parks General Manager of Premier Events and Experiences, Lara Burnes, has been eagerly anticipating the grand opening after more than four years of planning and three years of construction.
Looking forward to the opening, Burnes explained “it’s been a long time coming - and the team and I are buzzing with excitement to welcome Australians, and guests from abroad, to experience unparalleled events that leave you in awe.
“With CENTREPIECE located within our iconic Melbourne & Olympic Parks precinct, the new venue will also become the official media centre for the Australian Open 2022. This year we were able to enjoy a sneak peek into how our venue will support the Aus Open, as well as interact with its surrounding sister venues.”
