read moreMelbourne Convention Bureau has announced a new funding initiative to encourage interstate organisations to hold their events in Australia’s event’s capital Melbourne.
Under the National Business Events Program, a significant cash injection up to $25,000 may be offered to business event organisers to support costs for hosting their event in Melbourne, including accommodation, venue hire, transport and other event costs. What’s more, 50 per cent will be payable before the event commences to support upfront expenses.
With the Victorian Government’s recent announcement relaxing of restrictions during COVIDSafe Settings, Victoria has more flexibility around hosting business events with gatherings in larger numbers at approved organised events.
Announcing the funding to offset organisers costs, Melbourne Convention Bureau Chief Executive, Julia Swanson (pcitured) stated “we are thrilled to announce this new funding initiative to support the Victorian business events sector to regain momentum and provide a much needed helping hand to business event organisers in hosting their events in our city.
“Our aim is to not only boost demand across the sector, fill our hotels and venues and support our local supply chain, but to provide planners and key decision makers the confidence to plan and book their event in Melbourne.” With a focus on national association or corporate events, funding will be determined by the event duration and number of delegates attending the event in-person traveling to Victoria from interstate. Eligible events will include conferences, exhibitions or tradeshows, workshops and seminars, as well as corporate meetings and incentive group events with a business event program.
“Melbourne has always been an innovator in the events space and if you have ever wanted to host your event in Melbourne, now is the time to get planning.”
Expressions of interest for the National Business Event Program are open.
