Zoos SA Chief Executive, Elaine Bensted notes “$25,000 would greatly help. We could really do with some more dental equipment. This equipment is vital as one day the vet team could be checking a lion with a wobbly canine and the next a gibbon with tooth decay.
“As well as dental equipment, funds will also go towards infrastructure improvements that will greatly enhance the treatment that we can offer our animals.”
Zoos SA, a non-government conservation charity, operates Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park. Across both sites it cares for over 277 species, of which just under a quarter are classified by the IUCN as extinct in the wild, critically endangered, endangered or vulnerable to extinction.
Bidders in the Zoos SA Online Auction can bag themselves items such as accommodation, tickets to Adelaide’s premier events, alcohol, VIP experiences at Zoos SA and pampering treats – all in the knowledge that they’re funding animal care at the conservation charity.
Just some of the items to bid on include:
• A seven course degustation lunch at the Botanic Garden’s Restaurant,
• Six nights at a shack in Coffin Bay,
• An exclusive scenic flight over Monarto Safari Park and tour for one,
• Panda & Friends family pass,
• Haunted Horizons Paranormal Investigation of Adelaide Zoo,
• VIP Panda experience, Adelaide Zoo
• Behind the scenes VIP Monarto Safari Park tour with Director, Peter Clark
• Six bottles of Kimbolton Wines’ Cabernet Sauvignon,
• Two nights in a Majestic Spa Suite,
• A signed Pro Hart print of the ‘The Showdown – Port Adelaide vs Adelaide Crows’
• Overnight stay at The Studio by Haus Hahndorf with breakfast
• Sprout cooking school voucher
• Two tickets to Anna Karenina by The Australian Ballet including a signed pair of pointe shoes
• Framed photographs of Zoos SA’s animals by Adrian Mann
Previous online auctions have raised vital funds to help native animals, including those injured during the horrific bushfires of 2019/20, as well as the vulnerable Southern White Rhino and other endangered species.
The Online Auction runs until 8pm Sunday 23rd May.
