read more250 delegates at this week’s Money In Sport conference were informed about a range of key issues relating to finance, technology, marketing and engagement by a high quality line-up of speakers, panellists and facilitators.
Held at Jupiters on the Gold Coast on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th November, a key theme at the Third Money In Sport Conference was how technology is impacting all areas of sport, with sessions addressing how delegates and those across the sport industry need to grasp the opportunities that new technologies are presenting.
As delegate and panellist Dave Arthur, Managing Director of the Institute of Sport, explains “perhaps unsurprisingly the words ‘data’, ‘customer’ and ‘fan’ were writ large throughout the conference.
“To a greater or lesser extent these themes emerged in every session often wrapped around one another (with) much discussion couched in the context of significant challenges alongside significant opportunity.”
While specific sessions addressed women in sport, facility design, branding and eSports, the importance of data in sport became a recurring theme through the conference.
In the way that the book and film ‘Moneyball’ shone a spotlight on the impact of statistical analytics in the game of baseball, speakers and panellists repeatedly emphasised the importance of data – not just in terms of player statistics – but in the way ‘big data’ is transforming businesses across all industry sectors.
Commenting on the success of the event, Lou Sticca (pictured), Managing Director of Conference organiser Tribal Sports Group stated “I am so proud and delighted at the reaction we have had to this year's Money In Sport Conference.
“The quality of our speakers and moderators, sponsors and delegates was first class.
“I thank every one of them for giving up their time to share their knowledge and insights over two action packed days.
“One area of the Conference that I am personally invested in is to give our delegates ample opportunities to meet each other and our speakers and to network and build relationships.
“Every business has many choices on offer to send staff and executives to conferences around the world. To ensure Money In Sport remains on the favoured list, its on myself and my great team to deliver the platform for delegates, speakers and sponsors to get value; value in content and value in potential business leads.”
