Jodie Hawkins announced as Swimming Australia’s new General Manager Commercial and Marketing

Leading sports administrator, marketer and commercial strategist, Jodie Hawkins, has joined Swimming Australia as their new General Manager – Commercial & Marketing having held previous roles with the Big Bash League and National Rugby League, including a highly successful three-year period as General Manager of the Sydney Sixers.

Swimming Australia Chief Executive, Eugénie Buckley, welcomed Hawkins’ appointment and believes she will be an invaluable asset as the begins to build toward a home Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Buckley notes “Jodie offers a unique perspective and skillset having worked within some of the most successful domestic sporting competitions in the world.

“Swimming sits at the very beginning of a decade of opportunity that has the potential to cement our position as Australia’s most popular sport on the path to Brisbane 2032.”

“We must do everything within our capability to capitalise on this platform, including attracting and retaining the best people, and Jodie is a welcome addition to our team as we embark on this journey.”

Presenting an attractive opportunity given the road ahead for the sport, Hawkins enthused “I’m really excited to join Swimming Australia in this period of growth ahead of a home games in 2032.

“Off the back of a successful Olympic and Paralympic Games it is clear the sport is very well positioned to become a powerhouse in the next decade and I am proud to be able to play a small part in that.

“We’ll be focused on innovation in and out of the water, bringing fans closer to the action and showcasing some exciting new events, all delivered by a great team of passionate people.”

Swimming Australia’s next major event is the National Championships in Adelaide in April, ahead of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in July.
