Genesis’ reopened Western Australian clubs deliver supervised group fitness

Genesis’ reopened Western Australian clubs deliver supervised group fitness
May 21, 2020

Following the Western Australian Government having eased Coronavirus restrictions this week, Genesis Health + Fitness has reopened its five clubs in the state.

In line with the stage two restrictions, the five clubs - Belmont, Bentley, Bull Creek, Byford and Kelmscott - are running supervised group fitness, strength classes and Coaching Zone sessions for its members, with a maximum of 20 people in each club at the one time.

While fitness clubs cannot yet completely reopen, the Genesis Health + Fitness team are pleased to be able to offer members a platform to stay physically and mentally fit.

Adam Deane, club owner of Genesis Health + Fitness Bentley, Byford and Kelmscott, explains that the supervised classes are following strict health and safety guidelines that align to the Western Australian Government’s stage two restrictions.

He advises “this includes social distancing markers, no shared equipment, and reduced length in class times to allow for cleaning of equipment between classes.”

To further ensure the strongest possible health and hygiene standards are met for members and staff, every Genesis Health + Fitness club has installed more sanitiser stations, disinfectant wipes and health and hygiene signs throughout.

The reopening of the Genesis Health + Fitness clubs in Western Australia has also given the business the opportunity to physically reconnect with some of its staff that had been unable to work since health and fitness operators were forced to close in March.

Deane added “we’re excited to get our staff back into the club.

“We know that working a regular shift gives them a routine and sense of purpose. Our supervised classes are just the first step to getting things back on track - something we all want.”

With the group working closely with government and industry bodies in all states, Genesis Health + Fitness Chief Executive, Ian Jensen-Muir explains that the group is intent on safely reopening all its remaining clubs, advising “we want all our staff back, doing what they love: helping our members stay fit and healthy.”

Australasian Leisure Management understands that the group is expecting to next open clubs in Queensland.
