After lengthy negotiations between the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and Adelaide’s two AFL clubs, the Crows and Port Adelaide, a new revenue-sharing deal has been agreed for the Adelaide Oval.

Under the new deal, the two clubs will share an extra $3 million this season, and $4 million for the following two years.

SANFL Chairman John Olsen said it was a fair deal for all parties, telling the ABC “this review has been all about reassessing the revenue model to ensure it delivers the fairest outcomes for all parties.

"We now have an agreement that delivers the lion's share of the uplift from the move to Adelaide Oval to the two AFL clubs while also protecting the SANFL's ability continue to develop the critical pathways to elite football in South Australia."

Through the new agreement, the clubs will also earn bonuses for driving attendances, with a larger crowd giving clubs a higher return.

Port Adelaide's Chairman David Koch and Adelaide Crows Chairman Rob Chapman both agreed it was a positive outcome for all the clubs.

Koch stated "Port Adelaide is looking forward to continued strong support from fans and members at our games in 2015, and we are pleased that this support will translate into solid financial returns for our club.”

Chapman also welcomed the deal, explaining “our loyal members and fans have taken their support to another level since we arrived at the new stadium, and we were compelled to achieve the best possible outcome to ensure the club continues to prosper.

Since its reopening last year, the redeveloped Adelaide Oval has enjoyed impressive attandances and acknowledgement for delivering the best sport fan experience in the country.

However, despite this success the Crows and Port had called for a review of their arrangement with the AFL and SANFL after both clubs reported poor financial returns despite attracting record crowds.
