read moreThe Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) has opened up a direct route to a future workforce for the business events industry through a new traineeship program with TAFE NSW and Apprenticeship Support Australia.
EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio, said attracting the right candidates to the exhibition and event sector has been identified as a major priority by members, explaining “we are pleased to be working with TAFE NSW and Apprenticeships Support Australia to create a direct pipeline into our workforce through a series of 'industry first' traineeship programs.
“These tailored traineeship programs are designed to attract new entrants to the industry while at the same time offering incentives and support to those businesses who seek to be involved.”
In a video testimonial by EEAA Members that celebrates 25 years of the Association, Libbie Ray, General Manager of AV 24/7 supports this historic program for the business events industry.
Ray stated “EEAA really gets down to the nitty gritty of what our industry really requires to move forward and be successful.
“Something that we have struggled with as a business is finding staff that are aligned with our company and who are well-trained, specifically in the AV industry.
“The team at EEAA have been an incredible support and voice to drive traineeship opportunities through TAFE and this is going to be a huge game changer to the industry.”
Employer benefits of taking on a trainee include:
• Workforce development from the ground up and improved staff retention
• Trainees can contribute to your bottom line with practical skills and knowledge gained through their training
• Financial incentives and benefits are available to employers of trainees
• Flexible training component delivered to suit industry and workplace demand
DiMascio added “’schools out’ and there are bright young people out there looking for an opportunity to join an industry. Let's make that ours.
“We encourage Industry to take up this opportunity to recruit an employee who will gain qualifications and skills tailored specifically to your organisation.”
