read moreThe Shed at Downunder Drive is aiming to be recognised as the Sunshine Coast’s leading live entertainment venue with American folk rock band the Violent Femmes having sold out their scheduled 1st April concert.
The capacity crowd of 1,100 fans will represent the venue’s first sell-out since its refurbishment and relaunch 18 months ago.
Downunder Drive Chief Operating Officer Aaron Flanagan commented “to be completely sold out with more than a fortnight up our sleeves is testament to the authenticity of the live event experience The Shed is delivering.
“The appetite on the Sunshine Coast for quality live entertainment and our ability to leverage our proven marketing channels to return great commercial results for the artists is proving to be a winning formula.
“It is very rewarding for our team and reaffirms the significant investment we have made in establishing a bold new vision for our precinct to be the number one rated tourist, events and entertainment destination in Queensland.”
Flanagan said The Shed was now attracting interest from national and international acts as the venue’s reputation continues to grow and word spreads among performers and their managers as well as other major suppliers to the entertainment industry.
He added “the Violent Femmes are an iconic international band with an outstanding back catalogue of hits, they have stood the test of time with a cult following spanning many generations so we’re not surprised that the tickets have sold so quickly.
“This success certainly paves the way for more acts to add The Shed to their tour schedule in South East Queensland.
“Since relaunch in late 2015 we’ve been fortunate to host great live music, comedy and cabaret style theatre performances. Most pleasing for us is the overwhelmingly positive feedback received from the artists.
“There’s no doubt that we have exceeded artists and their fans expectations in delivering an authentic live event experience and our central location on the Coast is proving advantageous in providing great accessibility to the major residential centres such as Caloundra, Kawana, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Buderim and Nambour."
Veteran UK rockers The Animals will perform at The Shed on 7th May while former Cold Chisel star Ian Moss is locked in on 20 May.
