Aligned Leisure, operators of Cardinia Shire’s major aquatic and recreation facilities, have raised $27,000 for the Casey Cardinia Foundation.

The funds were raised with support from Aligned Leisure’s commercial partners at the inaugural fundraiser for the Foundation, held at the Pakenham Racing Club on Thursday 9th February.

The $27,000 donation will support important community programs and services, which could not be provided without the support of local businesses.

Aligned Leisure Managing Director, Cain Liddle stated “it is our quintessential purpose to align with the unique needs of the communities that we work within.

“We are very proud to be able to provide our support to the Casey Cardinia Foundation, who work tirelessly in the local area to provide programs and services to groups who, without the support of the Foundation, would have no way of accessing the services they require.”

Almost 200 people attended the function, which coincided with Pakenham Racing Club’s twilight Thursday night racing program, with all races on the night named in honour of commercial partners who had financially supported the evening.

Therese Howell, Executive Officer of the Casey Cardinia Foundation added “we are so grateful to Aligned Leisure for the support that they have provided the Foundation.

“Despite only operating in the area for less than 12 months, they have invested so much time and energy into making the Casey Cardinia area a better place to live and raise a family.”

In 2016, the Foundation received 42 requests for program and service funding. They were only in a position to provide support to nine of these community groups.

Howell added “through the support of Aligned Leisure, we are confident that we can increase the number of requests that we can support in 2017.”

The Casey Cardinia Foundation Ltd is a philanthropic Community Foundation, raising funds for local community groups throughout the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire, with funds dispersed through an annual grants program. The Foundation aims to support the social, community and physical development of the community.

Aligned Leisure is a fully owned subsidiary of the Richmond Football Club and currently operates Cardinia Life, Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre, Officer Community Hub, IYU synthetic sports pitch and the Shire of Cardinia’s four seasonal outdoor pools.
