read morePerth attraction Adventure World has revealed that it is to add a new $7.5 million ride that it promises will be "the largest of its type in Australia".
Code named ‘Mi3’ - denoting the park's third ‘maximum impact’ addition after the $7 million Kraken water slide and $12 million The Abyss - the new ride was announced on the Adventure World Facebook page, with a post celebrating the signing of the contract for construction of a "cutting edge feature" that will "literally launch guests to new heights" when it opens in September 2017.
Adventure World Chief Executive Mark Shaw commented “we set the benchmark wituh Abyss and Kraken and have spent the past year scouring the globe for a new attraction that will continue to up the ante.
"Having road tested four of these attractions across three continents, we are confident we have got it right and can’t wait to introduce this exciting new concept to WA.”
The Mi3 will be constructed overseas and shipped to Australia, before being assembled at the Bibra Lake attraction in July and tested ahead of its opening for the 2017/18 summer season.
While planning continues for Mi3's arrival, this year guests will see a number of improvements in the park including a re-themed Water Mountain, enhanced water effects on Rapids, the relaunch of the Freefall under the new name Inferno, more private resort-style cabanas in Dragon Kingdom and Kahuna Falls, a lush new lawn area, and a new exclusive season pass holder entry.
The season will also see the return of the popular Fright Nights events, which will commence for Halloween, along with the launch of the Summer Nights entertainment program during the peak season.
However, it appears that long-time Adventure World attraction Bounty's Revenge, which thrilled visitors for more than 30 years with its swinging boat, has been removed from the park.
